ERE’s Sucati Dam and HEPP project is one of Turkiye’s first energy investments completed under the build-operate-transfer model. It is a pilot project not only for ERE but also for the entire Turkish energy sector. From the feasibility studies stage to energy production, Sucati has been a complete ERE project.
A framework agreement towards the Sucati Dam and HEPP was reached between ERE and the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources following technical, administrative and financial discussions and ratified by the Turkish Supreme Court in 1996. A Concession Agreement was signed between ERE and the Ministry on May 31 of that year.
Site installations were completed and construction activities started in June 1998. Although feasibility studies suggested a three year time frame for the construction work, ERE was able to complete the project in twenty months, thanks to effective project management, the use of the latest engineering applications and the highest possible performance by all personnel involved.
Sucati Dam and HEPP installations performed excellently during test runs on January 17 and 18, 2000 before the representatives of
- the owner, Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources
- the investor, ERE Electricity Company,
- the civil works contractor, ERE Engineering Company and
- the electromechanical works contractor, Siemens AG, Austria
Commercial operation began on January 18, 2000 after Preliminary Acceptance by the Ministry, which gave its Final Acceptance on February 27, 2001.
ERE Group wishes to thank
- Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the owner
- General Directorate of Electrical Works, the technical controller on behalf of the owner
- the headquarters and the Kahramanmaras branch office of TEDAS
- Prokon, the independent Council on behalf of both the owner and the insvestor
- SIEMENS AG-Austria, the electromechanical works contractor
- En-SU Engineering Company, the design engineers
- RONA Makina Company, the mechanical works contractor
who have extended their support during the Sucati Dam and HEPP Project.
